Dental implants: a great long-term investment
For missing teeth, dental implants are the only permanent solution. At Warrendale Dental Care in Ross-on-Wye, our skilled implantology team can replace one, some, or even all of your natural teeth using dental implants. We believe that, in many cases, implants are the best long-term option for patients who have lost teeth.
How dental implants work
Implants are designed to replace the root of one or more missing teeth. They are made out of titanium and are placed in direct contact with the jaw bone in a small operation, which in most cases is carried out using local anaesthesia here at our Ross-on-Wye dental clinic.
Once in position, your implants will mesh with your jaw bone, providing a firm base on to which your new teeth can be attached. Depending on your requirements, your dentist may fit a single crown, a bridge or dentures.
The benefits of implants
Dental implants have many benefits. Not only will your new teeth look and act like natural teeth, but also because titanium is very compatible with the body they will help to prevent bone shrinkage, which is a very common problem in people who have lost all or most of their natural teeth.
An increasing number of patients who previously struggled with traditional dentures are now reaping the benefits of denture stabilisation with dental implants. Standard dentures have a tendency to become loose over time, making eating and speaking more difficult and leaving patients self-conscious about smiling in public lest their teeth fall out.
The skilled implant surgeons at our Ross-on-Wye clinic will use the minimal number of implants (commonly between four and six per jaw) to secure your dentures, meaning that there will be no danger of them getting loose. With regular visits to the dentist and hygienist and good home care, your implants could last you a lifetime.
