Dental implants: the perfect way to replace missing teeth
At Warrendale Dental Care in Ross-on-Wye, we have been successfully treating patients with dental implants for more than ten years. Implants are one of the most exciting advances in modern dentistry, first developed 30 years ago. In many cases they are the perfect way to replace your missing teeth.
Why dental implants?
Dental implants are the only permanent solution for patients who have lost one or more of their natural teeth. People lose teeth for all manner of reasons, from accident and injury to gum disease and tooth decay. Whatever the reason for your tooth loss, dental implants are often the perfect way to restore not just your confidence in your smile, but also your ability to eat a healthy, balanced diet.
How does it work?
A dental implant is a small screw, made from titanium and placed directly in your jaw bone in a small operation, which is carried out by a skilled implant dentist here at our Ross-on-Wye practice. In most cases this can be done under local anaesthetic, and many patients report it as being more bearable than having a tooth extracted.
Dental implants replace the root part of one or more missing teeth, and in many cases one implant can support several new teeth in the form of an implant-retained bridge or dentures. Once your implants have been placed, a healing period of a few months is necessary to give your implants time to bond with your jaw bone. When healing is complete, your dentist will attach your permanent new teeth on top.
It should be stressed that dental implants are designed to be a permanent tooth replacement solution. With prudent oral hygiene and regular follow-up visits to the dentist and hygienist at our Ross-on-Wye practice, your implants will last you for many years – in a lot of cases they will last a lifetime.
