How dental implants can give you back your confidence
Dental implants enable your dentist to give you back more than just a beautiful smile. At Warrendale Dental Care in Ross-on-Wye, our skilled implant team can use implants to replace anything from one to all of your natural teeth, giving you back all the functionality of a jaw full of healthy teeth, and with it restoring your confidence.
How dental implants work
Traditional tooth replacement options – dentures and bridges – only replace the crowns of the teeth. But natural teeth are made up of both roots and crowns, and without replacing the roots you are likely to run into a number of problems, caused by a loss of bone density and shrinkage of the gums.
Dental implants are artificial tooth roots that are placed in direct contact with your jaw bone in a small operation, which our modern Ross-on-Wye dental practice is fully equipped to carry out. This can usually be done under local anaesthetic, and many patients report that it is more pleasant than having a tooth taken out.
Implants are made out of titanium, which is chosen because it encourages bone growth. Once your dentist has placed your implants, they will form a strong bond with the bone, creating a firm anchor for your new teeth to be attached to, and helping to stop both bone loss and gum shrinkage.
At our Ross-on-Wye practice, we can replace one, some, or all of your natural teeth with dental implants and either crowns, bridgework, or dentures. Unlike standard dental bridges, there is no work required on adjacent teeth to support the bridge, so healthy tooth structure is preserved. In the case of dentures, whilst they will still be removable (your dentist will show you how to do this) they will otherwise stay firmly in place.
People whose teeth have been restored with dental implants will face none of the common worries of loose and ill-fitting teeth experienced by standard denture wearers. Instead, they will be able to enjoy eating all their favourite foods again, and will be able to smile, laugh, and speak with new-found confidence – and no fear of their teeth dropping out.
